Dispensary Phone Line Closure

Prescription Ordering Changes / Dispensary Phone Line Closure – Patient FAQ

From October 1st you cannot order prescriptions or ask dispensary about medicines by phone.

Why is this changing?

  • To give dispensers more time to prepare your medicines safely
  • To avoid mistakes that can happen when taking requests by phone
  • To make sure all requests are written down clearly

How can I order my prescription now?

Use the NHS App (easy, safe, and available 24/7)

Submit a request via our practice website

Fill out a request slip at the surgery

Tick and return your repeat slip to the surgery

What if I don’t have a smartphone or the NHS App?

If you have access to the internet via another device, such as a computer or tablet, you can submit an online request via our website.

You can still use a request slip or repeat slip at the surgery. Our staff can show you where to find these forms.

What if I need help with the NHS App?

Our staff can help you set it up. You can also ask a friend, family member, or carer to support you.

Can I still phone about my medicines?

No — from October 1st we cannot take orders or questions by phone. Please use the NHS App, practice website, repeat slip or a request slip.

What if I run out of medicine?

Order in plenty of time. Please allow three full working days for prescriptions to be processed.

Patients who require their medication before the three days will be given a signed prescription form to take to a pharmacy.

Who can I speak to if I’m worried?

Please speak to our reception or dispensary staff. We are here to help.
