Practice phone lines are open from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Thursday, lines close at 1:00 pm.

 To order prescriptions over the phone you must call between 9:00am and 1:00pm.

Dispensary collections are available at the following times. 

If you have trouble coming to an appointment before 5 pm, please let the reception know. They can speak to the duty doctor to see if a later appointment can be scheduled.

We also have appointments on weekday evenings from 4 pm to 8 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm. These appointments are not at Alton Surgery, so you will need to travel to another local GP practice for appointments outside our usual hours.

Out-of-hours services are provided by “Totally” when the surgery is not open, including weekends and Bank Holidays.  If you do ring the surgery when closed, you will be asked to hang up and redial using their direct number – 111. They are able to give advice and direct you to the most appropriate point of care.  

The NHS Commissioning Board Area Team is responsible for commissioning the Out of Hours Service.

Alternative and out-of-hours advice is available by calling 111 which is the NHS non-emergency number and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Calls are free from landlines and mobiles phones.
